Ian M. Smith II, 73, of St. Clair Shores, MI, passed away on August 9, 2018. He leaves his wife of 51 years, Monie, along with daughter Heather Hansen and son Ian (Kathryn) Smith III. He will be fondly remembered by his grand-daughters Courtney and Paige and great-grandson Kaesyn. Ian is also survived by his brother Steven (Sharon) Smith and sister Nancy (Lyn) Zimmer.
He graduated from Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips!) in 1967 and spent the next 35 years teaching in the Utica School District (Havel Elementary). He was actively involved in the Lakeview School Administration as a board member (1983-2001).
Ian loved his family, his friends, reading, travelling, and long naps. He fought a brave battle with cancer for sixteen years, and stayed strong until the end. He was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Solanus Casey Guild is suggested.
