James G. Pringle Jr. was born on November 25, 1925, to the proud parents of James Pringle, Sr. and Lillie Pringle. James was the beloved husband to the love of his life, the late Mary K. Pringle. He remarried years later to Eva Pringle. At the age of 94 he peacefully passed away on August 30, 2020 in Roseville, Michigan.
He was one of the Original Montford Point Marines in which he served his country with great dignity and honor. He went on to become a member of The MPM Chapter 19 in Detroit, Michigan. During his time in the service, he received multiple awards for Sharp Shooting; many years later (2012), he was awarded The Congressional Gold Medal of Honor which he received for his service to his country as one of its historical members.
Following his time in the Marines, he lived in Kingsport, Tennessee where he and his wife, Mary had their first child. They then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania were he opened his own Soul Food Restaurant, “Pringle’s.” They grew their family to include a total of 5 children. Soon thereafter, they migrated North to Detroit, Michigan where the last of their six children was born. He went on to earn his Engineering Degree from Wayne State University and eventually served as the Chief Inspector of Superintendents for the City of Highland Park, Michigan.
James was a Christian who held a firm belief in God. Previously he was a member of New Grace Missionary Baptist Church and in later years, a member of Northwest Unity Missionary Baptist Church.
He is the loving Father to Sheila Battle, Renee (Dr. Jeffrey D. Ohmen) Pringle, Tracy (Darryl McBride) Pringle-McBride, James L. Pringle, III and Crystal (Rev. Vernon D. Lloyd) Pringle. James is the cherished Grandfather and Great Grandfather to Kellie Thompson, Kenneth Pringle, Cidney (Tramayne) Lamb, Angel Pringle-Wise, Raymond (Laura) Wise, Jr., Courtney Campbell, Maya Pringle, Raquel Pringle-Caldwell, Ryan (C’Grace) Pringle-Caldwell, Joshua Pringle, JoAnna Anderson, Rico Wise, Charleco (Jalaney) Scipio, Jr., Chasen Scipio and Payge Pringle. Sheree Thompson, Gregory Davis, Destiny Edwards, Terry Edwards, Cassidy White-Wise, Christopher Caldwell-Talley, Jabari Regains, Sidney Lamb, Joselyn Pringle, Aubrey Lamb, Eiliyaah Campbell, Kalib-Nassir Metcalf, Kylie King, Khadijah Muhammad, Tahirah Muhammad, Hasan Muhammad, Lamar Caldwell-Talley, Heaven Allen-Davis, Bella Scipio-Caldwell, Zander Scipio and Jaxen Pringle and one great great-grandchild, Kylen Thompson.
James was preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Kay Pringle, Daughter, Deborah Pringle-Bassett, his Brother William Pringle; his Father and Mother, James and Lillie Pringle and a Great Granddaughter Kierie Allen-Davis. He will be missed by a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Private Military Services will be held for the Immediate Family on September 10, 2020 at 1:30pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
