He is 3 years older than me. He spent time at my Aunt Sharon and uncle Mike Petrella s house hanging out w my cousin Mikey . I also remember hanging out with him a few times in high school. I remember he lived right down the street from my grandma. He would play his guitar a lot. He was a nice kid and from what I hear an amazing guy. Fly high w the angels and my cousin Mikey Petrella,  My prayers and Condolences to your family.

I have so memories of (J.R.) That was his nickname. He and my son Mikey, grew up together and were good friends, along with his Dad who My husband Mike has known since grade school. The boys spent lots of fun times together at our house in Eastpointe, on Melrose st. They always swam in the pool and rode mini bikes in the driveway. Running in and out of the house looking for something to eat in between hanging out together.     He is now in Heaven along with our son , who passed one month earlier on the same day. They were meant to be friends forever it seems.  See you both again some day. Peace be with you both. Stay out of trouble you two.  Sharon & Mike Petrella .

This is very sad to learn. I met Kirk the year I attended a school with several dozen strangers. 
We learned about these strangers and found like minded people, we would all work together so closely.
He was so wonderful and I remember jokingly thinking that he was everyone’s inside voice.
His abilities, his reserve calm and then his epic hyper energy were all so refreshing to be around.
He gauged everything with moderation or extremism and then watched in awe with such genuine sweet eyes. 
He knew exactly what he was doing at the school and I thought it was so terrific that his path there was so clear. 
You knew if you were working with him you had an instant team. He was one of those lovely humans that it would be like no time has passed since you saw them last. I did think that I would see him again. 
I do hope this short time for him was truly an adventure that he loved fiercely. 

I was friends with Kirk in high school and then lost touch until 2009 when a mutual friend reconnected us.  Kirk was so much fun.  I remember having game night on New Year's Eve and we had to stop and watch the ball drop with Kirk.  We had so much fun coupon shopping.  Met for lunch on occasion. Then he moved to Pontiac and life just got in the way, like it tends to do.  But we never lost touch again.  I will miss his texts wishing me a good day.  He always brought a smile to my face.  He was truly a sweetheart and one of a kind.  I will miss you dearly, Kirk.  

I have known Kirk since junior high school and we became close friends in high school. He had a heart of gold and always made people laugh and smile. We had a lot of good times together and got into a lot of trouble. He was the most genuine person and I considered him more brother than friend. The world is a sadder place without him. Love you Kirkle

Although I never met him, his dad is my cousin.  Haven’t seen him for decades, but our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
