Mr. Haggerty helped me develop my love for music, which I still play to this day remembering to "Sing through my Face"!  Mr. Haggerty will be missed and never forgotten.

Mr. Haggerty sat behind us at St. Isaac Jogues. In fact, he was the first parishioner that we met after we introduced ourselves.  We looked forward to saying hello to him every Sunday. We will miss his warm smile. Love to the family.

Mr. Haggerty, a wonderful teacher and instructor.  He taugh me how to read music and play the piano.  He had so much patience with me.  He taught me a lot about music while I was in the choir at Sacred Heart. He well be missed.

I was 9 years old when I was part of the Sacred Heart Boys Choir under Leo's direction. I continued in band instruction and many musical performances for another 9 years. It was also at age 9 when Leo instructed me on standing up in front of a congregation to offer readings in the Mass attended by the entire elementary school. Good early public speaking practice for a future lawyer. I am, and always will be, grateful to you Mr. Haggerty.

Leo was a fantastic conductor and a fun travelling director.  Went to Italy with him twice - once with the Archdiocesan Chorus and once on a John Andrews 'concert tour'.  Leo was always fun to be around and had a great laugh.  He is now playing and singing with the heavenly hosts!  May his family always keep the memories close to their hearts.

When my father died, my mother asked me to sing a song I had written at his funeral mass at Sacred Heart.  It was a song he had heard me perform at an event in Detroit just a few weeks before he died.  I agreed to sing at the service but when the time came for me to start, I was literally frozen, standing at the door to the sanctuary. Leo Haggerty was standing behind me and gave me a gentle but firm push right out onto the altar. At that point, I had no choice but to go through with the most difficult performance of my life.  Thank you, Leo.  Well done.

Mr. Haggerty was such a wonderful man.  Always wanting to make us be better and we all thank him for that.  Just believe that he made a great happy  impression in our lives at Sacred Heart.  I sort of cannot believe that, well, it does happen, but I'm so happy that he had taken us to some pretty cool places.  Oh God, rest in peace Mr. Haggerty.  Wish I could have told you how much you meant to me.  Love and all to your family,  just saying to all of them,  We respect and appreciate you!

Mr. Haggerty knew liturgy and he knew good liturgical music.  He could select the best in classic, liturgical music as well good, contemporary church music.  I had the honor of singing in his choir for over 10 years.  He did us the honor of choosing the music and directing the choir at the first Mass of our son, Fr. Frank DeAngelis in June, 2013.

Leo, you were such a dear friend.  You have run the good race and are now in the presence of our God for all eternity.  I have been blessed for knowing you and thank you for the gift of your friendship.

Leo, you are in The Lord's care now.  I will always remember our talks after Rita's Sunday evening rosary.  You always asked about our sons right up to the time when I visited you two weeks ago in the hospital.  The insight you shared about Liturgy with Karen helped her become the Catholic she is today.  

Eternal rest grant on to Leo O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.

SO many memories... choir, concerts, piano lessons... too many to list. Leo, you are a happy memory that is always in my heart. I remember when you played "Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair" as my mom walked down the aisle at my brother John's wedding! Your sense of humor was so joyful. Thank you for instilling a deep love of music in me. I will always treasure you. I know you have finally found rest and will enjoy directing a choir of angels for eternity.

From what I know of Leo, he also was President of the Eastside Minister of Catholic music group that he started in the Eighties. I know him from St Issac Jogues and he also played for a special rosary for a special lady that we all loved Sophia Beger who always honored the Blessed Mother around her Assumption feast day!  God rest his soul!

Uncle Leo. Thanks for all gifts you taught me how to use. Since I was 8 I was your student. Your teachings gave me the strongest foundation on which to build my life. Heaven must need a good musician, they certainly got the best.

Leo, He was a part of our family since we(all) began singing!! Church, baptisms, communions, confirmations,weddings and funerals!! He was a part of our family!! So many memories!! Even incorporating You Are My Sunshine when he played the Organ at our funeral masses!! You will be missed, but Never Forgotten!! RIP

Leo was a wonderful man of God.  He demonstrated to me being a follower of God dosen't mean one has to be robotic.

I have many  fond memories of Leo and his great faith as demonstrated through his music ministry. His music truly brought the liturgy to life. His stories taught us all so much. He touched the hearts and lives of many students and adults. His legacy lives on in all of us as we continue to praise God in song.

Mr. Haggerty was a selfless teacher of music and taught  me how to play the trumpet with lessons going  5 years  while at Sacred Heart Roseville.  He charged a whopping(!)  $2 per lesson.   He was truly interested in his students' success, and i still enjoy the trumpet today playing for our church music ministry.     He was himself a great musician; i remember him going to town after the rececessional with a rousing organ piece.     We will miss you but i am sure heaven will be livelier with all  your music.

I've met very few people who had such a conglomeration of good traits. Mr. Haggerty was smart, kind, talented, a fantastic storyteller, and many more things besides. He taught me more than I think I realize even now and gave me an appreciation for so many of my favorite things. I am blessed for having known him.

Leo was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.  We will be forever grateful for the richness with which his musical knowledge and abilities enriched our lives.  His children and adult choirs were always among the best.  He wasn't "just" an organist or "just" a choir director; he was a teacher of life. He was a true blessing in all our lives and we are all better people for having known him. "May the choir of  angels come to greet you. May they speed you to paradise.
