Peggy Fitzpatrick, a Registered Nurse who left her home of Seney, MI by herself after high school to attend St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Rockford IL. She then worked at several Chicago area hospitals before moving to Milwaukee with 2 college friends and continued her medical career at the Veteran’s hospital. She enjoyed specializing as a surgical scrub nurse.
She then met her husband of 60 years Tom Fitzpatrick and they had 5 children in a 7 year span which raising them became her focus in life. They then resettled to St Clair Shores, MI., where she then took a break from nursing to unselfishly give herself to her children and their activities of hockey, baseball, figure skating, boy and girl scouts, swimming, catechism and most importantly sharing her devotion of attending Sunday mass.
She was most proud of all her children’s achievements and now those of her 5 grandchildren. Nothing made her happier as to hear about their travels and daily life events and accomplishments. She gave the gift of unconditional love and encouraged her children to travel and find their interests just as she had done.
After her youngest child graduated from high school she returned to college for an RN refresher course and began a 2nd nursing career. She worked the midnight shift at Saratoga and Samaritan hospital in Detroit, MI. She truly enjoyed caring for some of the humble yet most vulnerable people.
Peggy spent half of her year in Curtis MI where she was supporter of the rebuilding efforts of St Timothy Catholic church. She also volunteered in fundraising efforts for the cancer society of Michigan.
