Margaret Ann, daughter of Emilie (Wissenberg) and Edwin Kaler, grew up in Detroit, Michigan and is survived by her younger brother Edwin Kaler (Sally Johnson) of Cottontown, Tennessee. A graduate of Detroit's Pershing High School, Margaret's earliest ambition was to be a great mother. Her proudest achievement was not only being a mom but being the Fun Mom! She loved being involved in activities with the kids when they were younger. She enjoyed being a scout leader, helping with school projects, playing games and taking the family on "mystery trips." When her kids were older and more self-sufficient, Margaret enjoyed working outside the home. Her proudest moment in the work world was being an Administrative HR Secretary for Kelly Services Corporation earning several performance awards during her many years there. Before her retirement, she was a well-loved employee. Because Margaret was always an avid learner and educator, in 1979 she founded a group known as Women of Wall Street where members learned how to research and invest in the stock market.
Margaret was a happy, smiling, upbeat person and a social butterfly who loved to laugh and did it often. She also loved to entertain, have friends over, enjoy great food, tell stories, and play games. In fact, many of her childhood friends were the same friends of the family that her children grew up knowing and loving.
Most of all, Margaret was a devoted wife and friend to Larry, the love of her life. Theirs is a story of true love and dedication. Starting as childhood friends, they started dating when they were 15 and 16 years of age. As Margaret would tell the story, which she loved to do, she was walking with one of her best friends and passed by a group of boys they knew. One of the boys came over with a message for her from Larry asking if she would go on a date with him. The message she sent back was, "If Larry wants to go out with me, he will have to ask me himself." And so it began. The inseparable married three years later on September 8, 1956 at Truth Lutheran Church in Detroit surrounded by friends and family. They celebrated their 65th anniversary one month before Margaret's passing. The commitment and love they shared through sickness and health were truly inspirational.
There was only one thing that Margaret loved above all else; something she loved even more than Larry, her children, backrubs, and Diet Sunkist. That one thing was God. Anyone who knew Margaret also knew how important her faith was to her. She loved to share her faith with others and tell stories of those she loved who accepted their Heavenly Father into their lives. If there was anything she hoped people would have learned from her before she left this world, it would be for others to have Jesus in their hearts.
Margaret is survived by her husband Lawrence and by her children Marcia Ozga (Timothy Kurcz), Deborah Ozga (Chuck Ruth), and Gregory Ozga (Shannon Alsip). She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she adored: Marcie's children Rachel (Martin Anderson) and Erik Kurcz; Debbie's children Daniel, Jessica (Marshall Willey), and Annessa Hoffmann; and Gregg's daughter Brianna Ozga.
