Oliver Fred Bourgeois, age 73, of Harrison Township, Michigan (previously of Eastpointe) passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on August 20, 2021 in Clinton Township, Michigan. He was born on January 6, 1948, to the proud parents of Ferdinand and Simone Bourgeois and grew up in Ferndale, Michigan (Hazel Park HS, Class ’66). He is the beloved husband to Karen D. Bourgeois, nee Berger, for 42 years. Oliver is the cherished father to Renée (Adam) Williams and Andrea (Marius) Marcu. He is the loving papa to Noah and Owen Williams. Oliver was predeceased by his parents and brother, Robert Bourgeois (St. Clair Shores). He is survived by many loved family members.
Oliver (or Fred as his friends knew him) was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for Hollywood Markets for 43 years. He was a loving father and took pride in being a devoted “studio/stage dad” to his girls and the entire dance family at the former Charmaine’s Studio of Dance in Roseville, Michigan. He and his family had been parishioners of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Eastpointe, Michigan for 30 years. The last 13 years, since his retirement, Fred volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels. When not delivering food, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Karen, taking many cruises to exotic ports-of-call, and trips to the upper peninsula to see the majestic fall color changes.
Oliver will lie in-state on Friday August 27, 2021, beginning at 9:30 am until time of mass at 10:00 am, at St. Thecla 20740 S. Nunneley Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48035. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 26, 2021, from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
