William Stuart Schwedler

William S. Schwedler, age 79, a resident of Eastpointe, passed away February 24, 2015. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite. Loving father of Andrew and Pamela and step-father of Linda Humes, Brian Humes, Catherine Kowalski, and Christopher Humes. Proud grandfather of Benjamin and step-grandfather of Aubrey, Alina, Gregory, Megan, Joseph, and Rowen. Dear brother of Jerry and the late Marvin. Dearest uncle of Susan and Jillian. William will also be missed by his cats, Stanley and Ollie. Visitation Friday, 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. William was a social studies teacher for Detroit Public Schools for 33 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 2007 and attained fourth degree of 0484 assembly, also a charter member officer of council 014213. He was involved in many activities including being a historical presenter at Greenfield Village, spiritual advisor for Stephen Ministry and provided jailhouse ministry at the Macomb County jail and a member of Protecting Gods Children with the Archdiocese of Detroit. William belonged to Michigan Sports Car Club, SPEBSQSA (Barbershop Singing) where he was President of their Motor City Chapter and a member of the Grosse Pointe Chapter, Algonquin Club Detroit, General Motors Employees Chorus, Boy Scouts of America and the Dancing Cuckoos Laurel and Hardy Society. William enjoyed working as an auctioneer, especially associated with charity events.

William’s passion for the theater had him involved with East Detroit Civic Center, Stagecrafters Royal Oak Theater and Grosse Pointe Theater. He performed murder mysteries and was involved with the Murder Mystery Players which performed at Dave and Busters.
