Has I left Golf Lorraine for the last time today, I'm thinking of him. 

I miss  him  a lot .... still.

I miss the fact that I had someone in my entourage who not only knew the business but also what it meant to be a CPGA golf professional.

But what I miss the most is his straight face abrasive and corrosive humor !!!   It was unreal sometimes the things that would come out of his mouth.  He would drive by on his cart while I was teaching and  throw a couple of lines at me and keep on moving and I could see his shoulders go up and down repetitively as he was laughing without never turning back to look at me.  

Writting or thinking about it still gets me in the belly .....  Those were the good, no, the great times  !!!

So sorry to read of Arnold’s passing. As a single child, Arnold taught me so so much about life. As you probably know, he provided a roof over my head in Chomedy in my last year of high school.

I considered him my mentor. As I live in Australia, I could never visit regularly but he was my favourite connection back to Rosemere/ Lorraine. Life lessons he tried to instill in me eventually paid dividends. He tried his best to steer this skinny kid down the right path. I loved catching up with him when I visited and I will really really really miss him.

My goodness Cindy, The year has passed so rapidly. Like you and your family I am sure, not one day has gone by where I did not think about Arnold. He left his mark for sure and many good memories for those of us who have been fortunate to know him.

Arnold was a real gentleman and a class act!

Mrs. McLean, I was thinking about your family this morning, and was saddened to see the news of the passing of Mr. McLean Jr. My first golf lessons were at Lorraine golf course, with him. My late mother (Wanda) had such respect for him. She loved that golf course! Please accept my sincerest condolences. Your family was a big part of our family. Thank you!

Dear  Cindy and all of the McLean family. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Arnold's sudden passing. I send my thoughts and prayers. I grew up in Rosemere on the same street as Arnold, Brian and Donna. I remember Arnold with fondness and respect. A few years back I had the chance to hook up with Arnold at the golf club. As a youth I caddied at Lorraine  and on that day Arnold was kind enough to allow my brother and I a round of golf. I won't forgot my joy that day when we shared a beer with Arnold and Brian on the patio. Sincere condolences to all the family. Arnold will always hold a special place in my memories.

It is still so hard to believe. The news of Arnold’s passing came as such a shock. After we recently re-connected with you, Joe and I were so excited and anxious to be able to spend time with u both in Florida to catch up after all these years. We first met Arnold in 2008 when we became members at Lorraine Golf Club.  He was always kind-hearted.  He always had a story to share.  

We will remember the spaghetti nights and member-guests events.  But one that I will never forget is how generous Arnold was when I organized golf tournaments for breast cancer from 2014-2017.  He allowed us the use the golf club to hold this event.

We met Arnold and Cindy at Aldo's in 1985 with the clan (The Rudy's, the Campbell's, The Desrosier's etc) . We discovered I had the same birthdate as Cindy. And we discovered Arnold's love of Scotch. 
Arnold, from that day forward became a great friend and brother. 
We raise a glass of the finest to you Arnold with a cigar of course. 
One day we will play golf with you again.

Arnie was my first mentor, when I started working there aged 15.  He developed me, taught me lessons of golf, and life, and how to deal with cranky customers, and how to manage emotions. 

We became friends as he trained me up from rookie back shop boy  to overseeing the pro shop. He mediated between me and his dad when Arnold Senior got frustrated or hot- tempered; he took me into his home when I needed a place to finish the summer job after my parents moved. 

He was like an uncle, and then like an older brother. He helped make me a man. I shall always be grateful for Arnie.

He was quiet, kind, patient, and wickedly funny all at the same time. He saw life clearly and without sentimentality, yet he loved people with charity and patience and a courteous respect. He gave dignity to those he knew, and those who worked for him. 

I will miss him, and I will remember him with affection, gratitude, deep respect and love.

Hummmmm.... where  shall i begin!?
Front door neighbour on Charme street in Lorraine... Was Cindy and Arnold’s baby-sitter for years before cleaning house for them in Rosemere and ending up being employed at Lorraine golf course in the outdoor snack bar on the 19th hole, for 5-6 years! Great boss was Arnold!

Absolutely in total shock. Devastated by the news. I've know Arnie for years but in the last few really got to know him socially and treasured our moments on the golf course both here and in Florida. Will miss his easy going manner, his interesting reminisces and his cheeky smile. Always good for a laugh but at the same time always the perfect gentleman socially as well as professionally.

First off,my sincerest condolences to Cynthia and the family.Arnold was a chip off the old block(Arnold Sr.) who was my first Head Professional in my junior days.It was then I met Arnold Jr.and I knew then that Arnold Jr. was going to be a real gentlemen and follow in his father's footsteps in whatever his endeavours were going to be.In recent years,Arnold and myself got together with other people from the golf industry for an  Xmas lunch,excluding this past Christmas because of COVID19.It always was a real pleasure to be in Arnold's company!

We only had the pleasure of knowing Arnold by virtue of his relationship with Gerry and Sammy. The time spent with him over a dinner was always delightful. He was a man who could tell a great story weather historical or full of humorous; but never wanted to talk about himself.

Arnold was one of a kind.  We shared many many stories on the golf course.  I loved the guy, I loved drinking Scotch with him, and I will miss him.  He was truly a great person and great friend.  So glad we had kept in touch over the years.  Bye Arnold - hope we get to play again on that great golf course!

Arnold was a special guy - low key with a wonderful sense of humour and a mischievous smile. He cared deeply for his friends and family and was a close friend too many.  We were indeed fortunate that we were able to share the time we had with him  - his welcoming demeanour and obvious interest in all we were doing made him a joy to be with.  Rest in peace my friend and each time  we play that wonderful game of golf, we will remember a kindred spirit.

Arnold was a good man.  I first met Arnie when I started playing golf and caddying @ age  8 (circa 1970) . Arnie gave me a job in the backshop when I was 13 and put up with a lot of shenanigans  ;) Arnie also hired my son Zak .  Great memories and eternally grateful.  Oh ya, also heard Kraftwerk trans Europe express  at Arnie's place in my early 20's.  I hear the conditions are great on heaven's golf course. Hit em long and straight Arnie!
