Celia Alfaro Huijon passed away August 20, 2012 in Saint Helena, California. She was 78. Celia was born January 25, 1934 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Consolacion and Apolonio Alfaro. She became a US citizen in which she had great pride. She always said, “We should give and not take when we are in this country.” Celia self-taught herself to speak and read beautiful English, through reading which she loved to do. She worked at Kornell Winery until she retired and raised four children as a widowed, single mother. She loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all whom they loved. She lived for them and brought so much joy and care. When visiting Celia, fondly known as ‘MaCelia’, family and friends were received with love, warmth and never left on an empty stomach. She loved gardening, red roses, cooking, sewing, crochet, shopping, novelas, her beloved poodle Florentina and the San Francisco Giants. Celia is survived by her son Robert Huijon; daughters Delia Guijosa (Rigo) and Mara Huijon; grandsons Rigo Guijosa, Alexander Solis, Danny Guijosa and Anthony Pilotti.; granddaughters Alissa Solis and Suzie Martinez (Leo); and great grandchildren Aydin Solis and Kaia Guijosa; brother’s Francisco Alfaro and Antonio Rios (Mexico). She was preceeded in death by her husband Rogelio Huijon; her sister Teresa Guzman; and her eldest son Edward Huijon. A celebration of MaCelia’s life will begin on Monday, August 27th at 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the Saint Helena Catholic Church and a graveside ceremony will be held immediately following the service at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
