Barbara Joan (Pruder) Welch of Saint-Lambert, Quebec, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. Barbara was the daughter of David Earland Pruder and Jean Evelyn Stewart. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Heather Jane Pruder, who passed away at the age of six.
Born in Toronto, Ontario in 1936, Barbara's early pursuit was figure skating, and later in life she greatly enjoyed her daily walks around the village and Seaway Park in Saint-Lambert. Barbara worked for many years at Champlain College Library, bringing warmth and dedication to her role, and was much loved by the students there. She generously volunteered her time and talents at the Goethe-Institut in Montreal and Bishop’s University Arts Program in Saint-Lambert.
In retirement, Barbara discovered painting, becoming recognized as a skilled figure artist with a vibrant use of colour. A lifelong learner, Barbara eagerly pursued language studies in French, German, and Italian.
Barbara raised a wonderful family and is lovingly remembered by her daughters Pamela Welch (Gilles) and Theodora Welch (Minh), grandchildren Alexandre (Katherine), Guillaume (Kelly), and Genevieve (Francis), and great-granddaughter Elizabeth. She is also fondly remembered by extended family Alan, Laurel, Andrew (Liana), Silas, Wyatt, and Arlo, as well as longtime friend Kim.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on April 6th at 2 PM at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home in Saint-Lambert to celebrate her life and legacy.
