My sincere condolences to Doreen’s loved ones. While I moved out of the area while still young, I met Doreen on a few occasions. Her kindness and warmth left an impression. I had tea at her house and it felt like I was with an old friend. That’s because Doreen was gregarious and easy to talk to. She was well loved. Rest In Peace, Doreen.

This asks to share a memory... I have too many to share as you, Doreen, were such a big part of my youth and was always just THERE in my heart. My 'Auntie Doreen'. Towards the end of you living in your house, it turned into a quick visit just to say hi (your door was never locked!) or a simple wave from me to you, where you'd be in your regular chair in the kitchen where you could see out the window onto the street. That image of you in the window will always be with me. So many memories of you babysitting me, my mom and us girls babysitting at your house, my parents' parties, parties, parties. Your station wagon. Working delivering 'samples' door to door. My dad always going over to your place for a spot of tea. The HOPE dance that Arlene and I organized and that you offered to do the bartending for. Sitting on the bus with you going to work. Being mad at you and my dad because you didn't want me to go out with a certain boy! Remembering "Pass me by" on your radio on CJAD in the mornings when I slept at your house when I was about 6 or 7. All of us going to the beach together with you and Monica. Laughing... So, so many memories. You've always been a staple here on Kensington St. and since they took your house down, it just isn't the same. I will always have you in my heart, Doreen. I know that you're with God now and that you're happy again watching over your family with Him. I'll see you again one day. With all my love, Suzie Q xxx
