He may have not been our father by birth, but he was a father to us in every way that truly mattered. From a young age he welcomed us as his own, patient, loving and devoted. His care and commitment went far beyond words; he always prioritized his family and stood by us through everything. His love for his wife, her three girls, and four grandchildren was unwavering. Always present, always helping, always fighting for those he loved, Douglas was and will always be a true father in every sense of the word. He was a man full of devotion and who never let anger guide him. He always had a kind spirit towards everyone he met.
His quiet strength, patience and love left a lasting impression on all of us.
We are heartbroken, but we take comfort knowing he's at peace and his spirit will continue to live on through the kindness he showed others.
