Irene was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador, and moved to St. Lambert in 1950. She was married to Mark for 51 years and her love and care of him and her five children was absolute. She was deeply committed to her faith and church and was a member of the St. Barnabas congregation for 75 years. She was an associate member of the Sisters of St. John the Divine until her death.
Irene had a beautiful voice, and besides singing in church choirs since a young age, would sing as she engaged in daily tasks. Irene loved theatre, movies, square dancing, parties and all gatherings with family and friends. She was constantly striving to improve her life and skills, as well as the lives of others by supporting humanitarian efforts. Always active, she worked hard at whatever job she took on, acting as caregiver to children for many years.
In her nearly 101 years, Irene pursued a life of love, generosity and curiosity with a wonderful appetite for fun. She was interested in whatever came her way and was willing to try just about anything. She remained a positive and outward-looking person who was a true friend to many, many people. She was an inspiration and touched many lives in her long and meaningful life.
She will be deeply missed and always loved.
