I am so very, very sorry to hear we have lost Bob, and so recently -- and I had just finally mailed off an Xmas card to Bob and Judy this past Dec., after not contacting them for 10 years (I had a few life upheavals myself in that time).  If you see this message, Judy, please do contact me -- Sue Devoe, #1 - 6 Cawthra Square, Toronto, ON  (I moved, after long last, after my husband and I split up, and did you also move from Du Bearn in St-Lambert then?  I could not find a listing in the on-line white pages, thence my google search and found this site.  Such sadness...)

My days with Bobby were spent at St. John's Hall in Quebec City where we attended Quebec High School. Michael Rode The Boat Ashore was a favourite as we gathered a few of us after class.  Sad to see a '45er gone.

Judy and "les girls" - very sad to hear of Bob's passing and know you'll hear our heartfelt condolences.  We'll be reminiscing today about all our good family times together in St. Lambert and hoisting a glass in Bob's memory.  Stay strong.

Dear Judy, Heather, Diana, Kathryn and all the other family members. I am so sorry that you had to lose Robert so sudden. My deepest condolences... I met him on a couple of occasions and I characterized him as a 'gentle soul', but he was definitely called away from the earth side to the heaven side much too quickly. Death for all of us is a certainty but very often it is very difficult to accept it's sudden appearance. The burning candle of Robert's mortal life had got to it's base and extinguished the light with his soul departing from it. That extinguished light went before he had achieved the proverbial life's span of three scores years and ten (70 years) and therefore is no longer with us, but he will join the glorious company of family and friends who went before him adorned in white robes. Even though he has gone away, and his suffering is no more, his 'spirit' will always be with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I offer you my deepest condolences over the loss of Bob. I last saw him at the CCHS reunion in 2005 in St. Lambert. I have many fond memories of the time I spent in the Hear & Now.  Despite my singing voice (or lack therof) Bob welcomed me into the group.  I think he recognized my skills as a treasurer more than a singer.  Bob was a very special person who brought such great joy to so many.  He will be sorely mised.

I was very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a very sincere man who always did his best for the school and the children.

How surprised when I saw Bob's obit on my nephew's facebook. Sorry I missed the funeral. Give my wishes to the girls. My memories will be him at Mac in a folk group playing base and singing all the Peter Paul and Mary songs.

Judy, I was very sorry to hear of Bob's death.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss and sorrow.  I'll always remember the way Bob cared about people and treated everyone with respect.  I'll also remember his great smile,joyful laugh, and his love of music.

I was very saddened to hear that my friend Bob has passed away. Although we had not kept in close touch over the years, Bob was always close to my heart. We met many years ago at Macdonald College, where we were roommates in Britton Hall. When we graduated, we both landed teaching positions with the, at that time, the South Shore Protestant Regional School Board in St. Lambert. We also attended Sir George Williams University now Concordia where we often met in the students' common room in the basement on Drummond street where there was a piano. Bob would often sit down and play his heart out with whatever music moved him (classical, rock and roll, blues or a mixture of all of them). He was truly a wonderful musician because often he would take a classical piece and rework it into some combination of a rock and roll version. In addition, more often than not, a number of other students would come and join us with their instruments and it would turn into an unbelievable jam session. Bob used to tell me how much he loved to play music, especially the piano, because it would relax him when the pressures of life would impinge on him. He would also join a group or two to play Bridge, which he loved as well. In St. Lambert we shared an apartment while teaching and attending Sir George. We shared much of the work we did over the years and would often share books and other materials which we needed for our teaching and course work. Even though Bob and I did lose touch over the years, he was always a special friend whom I remember fondly. I am very sad and sorry that he is gone. I know that he will be greatly missed by all those whose life he touched. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and close friends.

We are still in shock about Bob's passing... Bob was greater than life. He was a true educator, well ahead of his time, human, patient, understanding and so knowledgeable. We met him on December 19, 1969 at the St Lambert Elementary Christmas Party where he sang and played the guitar, we thought he was a professional entertainer. We became friends and over the years we shared children and school stories, fishing and boating adventures, P.E.I. vacations and so much more... We feel so lucky to have met him.

My first memory of Bob was when, guitar in hand, he walked into Miss Neate's grade 6 class at St. Lambert Elementary as the student teacher for the term.  But the best and most meaningful memories are of the years of music, laughter, and friendship in the Hear and Now.  To Judy and the girls, Mike and I send our heartfelt thoughts to you.  The music and the memories will keep Bob with us.

My condolences to you Judy and your family. Bob was a great guy and I have fond memories of when I first met Bob when I was 10 and he gave me my first guitar lessons...not knowing that I would see him again in my later teens to start up the 'Hear & Now' with him and Mike....and the rest was history.

A gift of song is a gift of love, though how this is I cannot say Bob really knew how, and gave me just that, a gift, when as a shy 15 year-old I auditioned for the Hear and Now.  I still have that song, and it holds a precious place in my heart.
Bob also was known to say Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.  As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.  
He was a great friend, a musician and someone that holds a special place in my heart.  He will be missed.  My deepest condolences to Judy and the girls.

As some of the lines in a song that the Hear and Now used said "Music is a universal language and love is the key", and if you had to use a simple definition, that spelled out Bob/ your Dad to a tee was a love of music and the love it gives off. I have many memories of Mr. Mitchell; a teacher, a municipal council member but mostly as the director of the Hear & Now. I joined the Hear & Now in its later years, but it was a time of many happy memories, and I had the pleasure of being part of what I believe was the last curtain call for the Hear & Now back on Labour Day weekend at Belmont Park in 1976? This is a difficult time for all of you,but hold on to the memories that you have of Bob/your Dad, they can not be taken from you, and may God bless you all.

My prayers are with Judy and the girls.  My best thoughts of Bob were when he taught me how to play the guitar after school at St. Lambert Elementary.  Many years later I joined the Hear and Now with many from St. Lambert and Bob was the Director.  Wonderful memories of great times with great friends and we stay in touch even to this day.  Mitchell you will be missed as you leave for your 'Country Road as it takes you home' and my love to Judy.
