

Betty's love for her family was unwavering. She is survived by her younger brothers, Russell Brothers Jr. (Robin) and Donald Troup Brothers. She was predeceased by her youngest sister, Mary Corinne Frist (Johnny). Betty leaves behind a loving legacy through her three children: Mary Kate Bennett (Lynch III) of Indiana and their children, Lynch IV and Katie Marie; Jack Allen Pirrie Jr. (Victoria) of Cookeville, TN, and their children, Emmaline and Annabelle; and Michael Brothers Pirrie (Kristin) of St. Louis, MO, and their children, Gabrielle, Kristianna, Joseph, William, and Michael Jr. She has three great grandchildren, Charlotte Marie Bennett, Mary Katherine Settles and Presley Reis Wilcox. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Betty.
Betty was a devoted member of Nashville First Baptist Church. She attended Harpeth Hall Preparatory School, Pine Manor Junior College, and Vanderbilt University, where she earned both her BA and MS degrees.
Betty's love for the outdoors embodied her vibrant spirit. She treasured time at "Grandaddy's" farm, teaching her children and grandchildren to ride horses and fostering their love for nature. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing soul, with flowers brightening her patio.
In 1980, Betty launched a successful real estate career, earning life membership in the Awards of Excellence and joining the Greater Nashville, Tennessee, and National Realtor Associations. Her legacy includes landmark estate sales across Middle Tennessee.
A dedicated community member, Betty was active with Friends of Warner Park, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, The Belle Meade Plantation, YMCA, Hillsboro Hounds, and Russell Brothers Bible Study. An accomplished equestrian, she competed in top "A" shows across the Southeast, including Wellington Palm Beach, Washington DC International, Chicago International, Lexington, Louisville, and Music City in Nashville, TN.
A memorial service to honor Betty’s life will be held on October 11th, 2025 at Nashville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM in the 7th Avenue Broadway Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
