Carol A. Hoelscher, age 78, of Rosebud, Missouri passed away peacefully at her family farm on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Carol was born April 9, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to Heinz "Karl" and Rebecca (nee: Shepherd) Haring.
Wife of the late Lester Hoelscher, cherished mother of Kelly Schmaltz and the late Renee Schmaltz; adoring Memaw of Kyle Mackley, Taylor Frein and Gabrielle Foppe; doting great grandmother of Ms. Jay Renee Jaczinski. Beloved sister of Paula Terry, Dale (Vicki) Haring and Carl (the late Ann) Haring; Carol was our aunt, cousin and friend to many.
In honor of Carol's huge heart and loving, forgiving nature, we share with you this saying that she had in her home: "The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. The first to forget is the happiest. Forgiveness doesn't excuse their actions. Forgiveness stops their actions from destroying your heart."
Visitation on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125, during which the family encourages the wearing of a Christmas sweater or sweatshirt (Carol was a bit of a 'collector'.) Funeral service on Friday, February 11, at 9:00 AM at Hoffmeister, followed by burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of her many years working as an RN in the operating room, Carol specifically requested memorial donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or by mail at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
