Loving husband of the late Eileen Hoppe. Dear father of Jeanne (Bud) Moss, Joan (Steve) Koehler, Linda (Ted) Hoppe, Dennis Lammert, and the late Gary Lammert; loving grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 21; dear uncle, friend, and mentor to Kenny Schrader and numerous race car drivers.
Mr. Hoppe was a Navy veteran of WWII, and was a five time Missouri State Champion Midget Race Car driver. He was envolved in midget racing for 50 years, until his retirement, then enjoyed many years with his lifelong passion for racing. Mr. Hoppe was most proud of his association with the Schrader racing family, especially assisting Kenny Schrader with his start in racing. Mr. Hoppe was well known for his wonderful sense of humor and love of life.
Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Monday, March 5, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., where the family will receive friends Sunday from 3-8 P.M. Interment with full military honors in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks.
