Clifton Earl Mitchell

He was born in St. Louis in 1960 to Morty and Betty Mitchell. They had their hands full with three boys, Clif being the middle child. Clif attended Parkway Central High school and went on to graduate from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After college, he started his job at Excell Marketing where he stayed for over 40 years. His job there fueled his love of movies and trading cards.

Clif met the love of his life, Deb, in 1985 in West Des Moines, Iowa, in their apartment complex where they both lived. The two were married in Omaha, Nebraska in 1986. Clif and Deb were the proud parents of two kids, Matt and Lindsey. Deb may have been the love of his life, but nothing compared to the love for his kids, and later two granddaughters, Reagan and Ella. Clif’s favorite role was being a grandfather. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their grandpa.

Clif loved and rooted for the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues. His love for watching sports never ceased. He spent every Sunday watching football and following his fantasy team. Some of his favorite memories were spent tailgating before an Iowa Hawkeye football game with family and friends. He was also the coach of many of his kid’s sports teams. Along with sports, he loved watching movies and reality TV. He especially loved a good horror movie, but only when Deb was out of town.

Clif will always be remembered for his kindness and the way that he cared for his family and friends. We couldn’t have asked for a better son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. We will miss Clif every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Clif was preceded in death by his mother (Betty) and is survived by his father (Morty), wife (Deb), and kids Matthew (Sam) and Lindsey (Steve), granddaughters (Reagan and Ella Mitchell), two brothers Dean and Glen (Eileen), his beloved dog (Sydney) and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, at Berger Memorial Chapel in Olivette, MO at 11:00 AM with interment following the service at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery at 650 White Road in Chesterfield, MO.
