

Mike was born in Columbus, Ohio to Dan and Dorothy McEneany. At age 10, his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. He became interested in flying after becoming friends with a neighbor who owned his own plane. He began flying lessons, and became a licensed pilot at age 16.
After graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Mike attended Parks College of St. Louis University in Cahokia, IL. He was an active member in their Flying Club. He graduated from "Parks" with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics.
After graduation, he joined the predecessor to ATCOM (United States Army Aviation and Troop Command) as an Aerospace Engineer, and worked there until July of 1961 , when he entered Active Duty in the US Navy through the Aviation Officer Candidate Program. Commissioned an Ensign, US Naval Reserve in November 1961, he began flight training.
Designated a Naval Aviator in February 1963, he was promoted to Lieutenant JG in April
1963. He held various ground and flight crew positions, culminating in being designated a Patrol Plane Commander, at which time he was assigned an aircraft with a crew of 3 officers and 7 enlisted men.
His awards with the Navy included the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Medal.
He was released from active duty in July 1966, with the rank of Lieutenant(O-3.)
Returning to St. Louis, he resumed his engineering career at ATCOM.
From August 1966 to September 1980, he held increasingly responsible systems engineering positions associated with the CH-47 "Chinook" helicopter... (His "Baby!")
Beginning in October 1980 to March1984, he held the position of Systems Integration Division Chief, responsible for supervising approximately 30 Systems Development Engineers and assisting program managers in accomplishing their designated projects.
From March until November of 1984, he served as Acting Deputy Director of Engineering, and assisted the Director of Engineering in the management and execution of the Directorate's mission and responsibilities.
In November of 1984, Mike was appointed as Director of Engineering in the Aviation Research, Development, and Engineering Center. He managed approximately 300 professional engineers and administrative staff responsible for air worthiness and engineering support of all US Army developmental and fielded aircraft. This included serving as the Army's "Air Worthiness Authority."
From March1992 to March l994 — He was Associate Director for Systems, Aviation Research,
Development, and Engineering Center, where he managed the process for development, systems integration, and airworthiness of all Army aviation programs, and continued to serve as the Army's "Air Worthiness Authority."
During his tenure, Mike received the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive; Department of the Army "Civilian of the Year" by the Army Aviation Association of America; and the Commendation for "Exceptional Civilian Service" from the Secretary of the Army.
In March of 1994, he retired from his many years of service to our Country.
Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann; daughters Elaine Selle and Lisa Neske (Paul); grandchildren Tommy and Joey Selle, Rose and Claire Neske, Megan McEneany Rodriguez (Nick), Kristen McEneany Spallito (Anthony), and brother Dennis (Louise).
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael J. McEneany, and grandson, Gerry Neske.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 15th at Kriegshauser Mortuary West Chapel, 9450 Olive st, St. Louis MO 63132.
Funeral Mass Saturday August 16th at 1:00 pm: St. Joseph Catholic Church, 567 St. Josephs Ln, Ballwin MO 63011. Luncheon to follow.
Burial Service will be private.
