My condolences to Derrick's family. He came over on sundays for 'sunday family dinners' and we got to know and love him. He will be missed!!

A photo of Derrick, Seth, Jamie, Casey and I at Monica and AJ's wedding. The "AT&T service" photo. I think you and Casey laughed right before this photo was taken cause I called it that. You dressed up more than you normally did for the wedding despite voicing your displeasure of doing so. But you did it for someone else. You always laughed at my stupid one liner jokes whether you thought they were funny or not. I always felt accepted through you. You never judged me and saw me as a whole instead of the sum of my parts. Being together made you and the family so happy.

You were the first to read the placard and we understood its significance to slavery and freedom. I'm so glad we took this picture because it's a moment in time where we both learned something. We both told each other how much we liked to learn, but I think you were better at it.

I had plenty of short jokes given to me that day. We were so happy seeing downtown St Louis for the first time and you knew about the AB breweries and shared plenty of facts about the area. You were very proud of the area, so much so you took the time to understand how it became what it is now.

Derrick went with me, Jamie, Casey and Grandma Snow to some of the best BBQ in town. The sauces were no joke. We left way heavier than we needed to be. I remember seeing you bring sunglasses and wishing I was smart enough to remember bringing a pair. Nothing brings people together better than a shared meal.

Derrick went with me, Jamie and Casey to the Battlehawks game. It was our first ever XFL game. I told Derrick how much I appreciated St Louis having a sports scene again. We laughed when they choked and lost the game. But I appreciated Derrick being there.

My heart goes out to Jessica and her family. May God bring you peace and comfort at this time. Love and hugs .

I remember the happy times, Derricks infectious laugh, and the love he shared with us all. I am grateful for the time we spent together and will cherish those memories forever. Thank you, Derrick Alder for the joy you brought to our lives. Rest in peace, dear nephew 🙏❤️ until we meet again.
