Donald was a pioneer in rehabbing the Central West End years before its transformation into the trendy area it has become. Some of the signature touches were brightly colored exteriors and large block address numbers. Projects include Boyle and Laclede, Forest Park BLVD and McPherson near Euclid. Donald won numerous awards in the 1970's from the St. Louis Beautification Commission that included Community Leadership Restoration of Residential Buildings and Architecture and Landscaping Rehabilitation of Older Buildings, amongst others. Community was always a part of Donald's life that included serving as President of the St. Louis Optimist Club, a lifetime Shriner and a supporter of the St. Louis Humane Society and Animal Protective Association of Missouri.
On Monday, February 13th, visitation will be held at 12:30pm, with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00pm at Shaare Emeth Temple (located at Ballas and Ladue Road). If you would like to make a contribution, please make them in Donald's name to either the Humane Society of St. Louis, 1201 Macklind Avenue (63110) or the Animal Protective Association of Missouri, 1705 S. Hanley Road (63144).
