Ellen was born on February 7, 1947 in Saint Louis where she grew up attending schools in both the Wellston and Ladue School Districts. Her family moved to Kansas City the summer before her Senior year, where she graduated from Shawnee Mission East HS in 1965.
Ellen returned to St. Louis to work and attend school. She met Vince Mahoney who she married on August 8, 1970 at Congregation Shaare Emeth. They were married just shy of 50 years before his passing in May of 2020.
Ellen wore many hats throughout her life as she worked for the JCC, JFS, St. Louis County, Life Skills (now Easter Seals) and many other places throughout the community. No matter her role, it always involved helping others; she loved to be able to support others and give back.
Her proudest role was that of being a Bubbie; whether baking, shopping or just reading stories, Ellen thrived loving on her five beautiful grandchildren: Logan, Nora, Elliot, Ethan and Addy.
Ellen is the daughter of the late Samuel and the late Dorothey (Stein) Schuver. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter. She leaves behind her loving daughter Bridget, son in law Charles and their five children; her brother Ron Schuver and his wife Mary, and a large number of cousins, family members and friends who will miss her humor, spunk and generous nature here on Earth.
A private service will be held.
