Harvey M. Brown, 98, lovingly known as “PawPaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026. Born on October 12, 1927, in St. Louis, Harvey lived a remarkable life defined by integrity, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Brown. He is survived by his two children, Ellen B. Brown (Brent Franzel) and Steven J. Brown (Joan Brown). He was a proud grandfather to Melissa Klupchak (Max Klupchak), David Brown, and Matthew Franzel (Leanne Franzel), and a cherished great-grandfather to Carly, Cameron, Ellery, Connor, and Lila Klupchak and Eli Franzel.
A lifelong resident of St. Louis, Harvey built a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant. He graduated with a degree in accounting from Washington University, where he played on the basketball team for two years and remained an active alumnus his entire life. In 1952, he founded the accounting firm Rubin, Brown, & Gornstein (RBG), which would grow and evolve into RubinBrown, a highly respected firm serving clients across multiple states. Widely regarded as one of the best CPAs in the region, Harvey’s professional legacy is marked not only by his expertise, but by the trust and relationships he built over decades with his clients and the many people he mentored.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Harvey was deeply committed to his community. He was actively involved in numerous local Jewish organizations, served as president of the Jewish Community Center, and was a longtime member of Congregation B’nai Amoona. He was also a dedicated member of Westwood Country Club and enjoyed many years as a snowbird in Palm Springs, California, where he and his family created many lasting memories.
Those who knew Harvey will remember him for his thoughtfulness, warmth, and unwavering kindness. He had a gift for storytelling and a way of making everyone feel valued and welcomed. His greatest pride was always his family, and he found his deepest joy in spending time with them—whether on the golf course, sharing stories, or simply being together.
Harvey was more than a successful professional—he was a beacon of guidance, integrity, and love. His presence brought comfort, his wisdom offered direction, and his kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed, but his generosity, charm, and love for everyone will remain with us always.
