

Jane Susan Rudolph Newman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Newman, and is survived by her three children, Lee, Andy, and Betsy; her five cherished grandchildren, Nicolas, Xander, Madison, Livy, and Ella; and her sister, Mary Marblestone.
Jane excelled academically at Glenridge Elementary School, Clayton High School, and Washington University, and began her career at the Central Institute for the Deaf, where she had a deep and lasting impact on her students.
She was a devoted mother who took immense pride in raising her three children and later found profound joy as a grandmother.
A lifelong lover of dogs, Jane trained them with patience and pride, and they were an integral part of family life.
She also found joy in beauty and creativity—loving reading and poetry, tending her garden, and arranging flowers and candles to create spaces filled with warmth and care. Together with Matt, she was a lifelong enthusiast of the arts.
Jane will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and legendary phone calls. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Institute for the Deaf and the Miriam School and Learning Center.
