Mrs. Garogiola and family, my 2 boys had to pick famous Missourians for 4th grade and no surprise it was Yogi Berra and 3 years later Joe Garagiola.  Mr. G called my youngest, a first grader, and talked to him about Jackie Robinson.  Quite a memory for a youngster.  Quite a example of a life well lived.  RIP

When living in St. Louis Hills, Mr. Garagiola was one of the nicest dads in the neighborhood and always made a point to talk to his children's friends! May you find comfort in knowing he is watching over you and forever in your hearts. He will be missed but always remembered as one of the best!

My Condolences to the family  - my father and godfather were not only friends of Joe's but did his printing - Berra McKean Printing.  They so enjoyed Joe's sense of humor and looked forward to his visits back to St Louis.  I remember him from a party at Skip's house on Sublette after my father had passed.  I will always remember his kind words about my dad and his grace.  I will keep you all in my prayers.

Joe Garagiola was what I consider a "Class Act" on and off the baseball field. My husband Gary and I have been Arizona Diamondback fans from Day One. Joe will truly be missed at Chase Field and in our Dbacks broadcast booth on Sundays... he will be in our hearts forever. Joe and Yogi can now (together) smile down at all of us from Baseball Heaven.

We pray for Joe, his wife ,family and friends. Joe interviewed Senator Thomas Eagleton , the night the Senator was nominated for Vice President in 1972. Eagleton was from the Hill too. Joe came from a famous area.

The World losses another super hero from Elizabeth Avenue.  It hurts to say the least.  Frank, Yogi, Joe and many others from THE HILL are gone, but their qualities will live for ever in all who were lucky enough to meet them.

Great childhood memories of listening to you and Harry on Cardinals games. Also remember your announcing Wrestling at the Chase. My mother laughed so hard at your feud with Rip Hawk. I will celebrate Mass for you. RIP JOE

My mother would watch Wrestling at the Chase...only if Joe was broadcasting...she thought you were the best. I has the honor of meeting Joe and his wonderful wife as they often stayed at a hotel where I worked. We shared "mom" stories and was just as he appeared to be...a terrific and spiritual human being...if there are streets in heaven, he and Yogi are neighbors!

Thank you Joe for the many years of fun listening as a kid. I never got to see you play being born in 1950 but I sure remember your broadcasting. Wrestling at the Chase was probably my first memory, you left the "Natives Restless" with smiles on their hearts.Gods blessings, and may I see you in heaven.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe in Kansas City on the national radio talk show "Baseball Sunday".  He also hosted the football and basketball shows as well.  Joe treated me like one of his kids.  He treated people with such graciousness and never knew a stranger.  We went on the road frequently but I really liked our trips to Cooperstown, especially when he was inducted into the hall of fame as a broadcaster.  We broadcast from the hotel where the members of the hall of fame stayed and I loved watching him visit with his old cronies.  You could tell how other respected him and loved him.  I also enjoyed our trip to Chicago where we broadcast from Harry Careys after the old timers game.  Many players and baseball aficionados came to see Joe and be on his show.  After the show on Sunday nights, the guys from the show would all go to dinner where Joe would tell us stories and we would all have a good laugh.  When he went back on the Today Show, he would have to take the "red eye" from KC to NY.  It was too much to ask and eventually he left us for NY.  I have thought of him often over the the years and it always brings a smile to my face.  I appreciated our friendship and the chance to get to know him.   He spoke so fondly of his family and I would like to express my condolences to you.  Joe was a great man.  God speed my friend.

From St Louis. It doesn't surprise us that Joe's funeral will be on the Hill April 13. He loved this neighborhood dearly, it's people and all the traditions and values it stood for. My dad, Roland DeFregorio, was a great friend of his growing up and it was fantastic to see them all, Yogi and other members of their club, The Fawns, become kids again during their reunions. It was sad to lose such a baseball player, and announcer and commentator as Joseph Henry Garagiola, Sr.  He was everybody's favorite, "Mr. Baseball", in his own right!.  I think he played for the Cardinals, Pirates, Cubs, and Giants.  Quite the nice looking guy, in his younger days, too!  Sure is a shame to lose a great catcher, and player as Joe.  Glad he did make it to his birthday, before he passed away, and I'll bet he's catching and hitting to the angels now.  Sure will miss him!

Living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, I struggle to be a baseball fan after losing our beloved Expos. However I have always been and always will be a Joe Garagiola fan. Loved him in everything he did. Actually watched the Today Show mostly to see and hear Joe. May he rest in peace and may his family remember only the wonderful and happy moments of their lives together.

Dear Garagiola Family,
My name is Kevin Gabriel and I am from Brunswick, Ohio. I was a big fan of this legend, I am very saddened that he has left us. My Great Great Uncle Ken Burkhart was a fan and a roommate with Joe. He always loved him as a ballplayer and announcer and will never forget him. I have one of Joe's catcher mitt's because Ken Burkhart was umpiring one game while Joe was catching and gave his catcher mitt to Ken. I wish your family the best through this difficult time. I will always LOVE Joe and he will never be forgotten.

On behalf of 4 generations of Cardinal Fans in my family, thank you Joe for touching all of our lives. I remember the 1982 World Series very well because I was actually living in Colorado, so I was pretty much out of listening range of KMOX so I had to depend on NBC for my baseball fix. What a wonderful way to hear that the Cardinals had won their 9th World Championship but from Joe Garagiola.

Having grown up in the 50s in STL  I don't remember a time not knowing and knowing about Joe G.  I cherish the memories of listening to the Cardinal games especially on radio during that time.  I was privileged to have known him through my father and still cherish the autographed copy of BB is a Funny Game".  Also, he was, of course, instrumental in getting Wrestliing at the Chase off the ground in 1959.

 I would like to offer my deep condolences for  your loss. May your family find peace and comfort in knowing sickness, pain and death will one day be gone for this has been promised.

Always enjoyed listening when he was calling the plays. My prayers go out to your family. A special note to Joe Jr, in the late 1980's you sat next to my dad "Delmore Clobes" on a plane from Phx to Mpls. My dad was coming to MN to see his ill mother. You were so concerned that you went into Robert Christ in Mesa a few weeks later to find out how his mom was. He was very touched by that. Thank you for that. My dad is gone now too but in his honor - I want to extend my sympathy in the loss of your father. He was a great legend.

Audrie and the entire Garagiola family, thank you for sharing Joe with the rest of us.  We are so grateful that our paths crossed in the later years of Joe's life, and we are honored that we could call him a friend. God bless you and give you peace at this difficult time.  My mom would always watch Joe on any tv show he was doing.  She was born and died a Chicago Cub fan, and Joe was a Cub.  She was also part of the Chicago branch of the Italian-Americans and that endeared Joe to her even more.  Maybe Mom and Joe are now eagerly waiting for the new season to begin together.

Joe was the best baseball analyst of the 70s hands down. Throw in Gowdy, Scully and Enberg and you have the mount rushmore of mlb voices. If he is not in HOF as a broadcaster there's not much reason for a Hall.

Organ for the evening roller skating session   He was very patient and I hope Audrie would maybe

Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Garagiola, Sr.  He spoke to HS baseball players before Super 50 Allstar baseball game at Then Bank One Ballprk. My dad talked quite a bit about his career and as a broadcaster. A very nice and caring gentleman. I was very impressed with his work with the Gila River Indian tribe at Bapchule,Az. I wasn't around to see him play but I do recall how Saturdays revolved around watching the Game of the Week and listening to Mr. Garagiola and his great sense of humor.  Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him.  May he RIP.  Amen.

I miss Joe and Tony Kubek from the "Game of the Week".  It was baseball I grew up with.  Additionally, Joe was kind to my father Tony in response to work with the Baseball Assistance Team (BAT).  I miss them all, and heaven has received them all.

I remember seeing Mr. Garagiola on television many years ago. As you think about the wonderful times you shared together, this will help to ease the pain of losing him.  

Take comfort in knowing that our God and Creator will help us to deal with such great losses as each day passes by.

Growing up in the 60's listening to the Red Birds and hearing voices like Joe,  Harry,  Jack,  and Mike to me are synonymous with baseball and all of the memories that go along with it.  My family,  friends,  and the entire neighborhood will miss you Joe,  but I expect you and Yogi to be working on some new material for when I make it up there to join ya!

I am a baseball fan who grew up near Pittsburgh. I am too young to recall Joe as a player, but he was a great broadcaster and humorist. If we want role models for young people in this difficult age, Joe is one to emulate.

He spoke at my 1992 graduation at St. Louis University.  He IS missed.  RIP, Joe.

Loved his story about the time he told Hank Aaron (I believe that's who it was) that he was holding the bat wrong; that the trade mark needs to be turned.  Aaron turned to him and said "I'm not here to read".

I will remember you always. You always brought a smile to my face. He knew baseball so well and had so many stories to tel. The love for his friend Yogi was wonderful. Prayers to you his family. What a loss to our baseball community.

My  prayers are with the extended Garagiola family; on the diamond or in the booth, there was never much question his heart was with you.  
Now healed of his earthly aches and ills, the Lord has called him up to His home team.

A sad day.  We lost a great man!!  I grew up in St. Louis in the late 50s, 60s to mid 70s.  59 now.  My dad, Don Stein, was a real fan of his and the Cardinals and just passed away last year at the age of 90.  He will be missed.

I went to my first big league game in Wrigley field at age 9 to see Cubs-Cardinals. I could not pronounce Joe's last name. Later he was with the Cubs and I saw him play again. What I best remember Joe for was his work with the Westminster Kennel Club dog shows. He was always a first class TV announcer and a very good natured man.rest in peace.

From Westchester County, New York, where Joe also lived for years, much appreciation for a life well lived. As a medical writer, I was always impressed by Joe's efforts to educate young men about the dangers of chewing tobacco. Perhaps this afternoon, Joe and Yogi are looking down at a spring training game, Joe is saying 'great view' and Yogi is saying, 'you can really see a lot when you look'.

He made baseball a pleasure to watch. RIP

When I was a fatherless little girl in St. Louis, I would pretend that Joe was my father.  What a great role model he was.  My greatest sympathy is extended to his family.

As a child, I remembered ever time I heard his voice, I knew that a baseball game was on TV.  He will be dearly missed.

I used to make a point of watching the Game of the Week and did so with a note pad to write down the things Joe (and Tony) would say as they were explaining facets of the game during the broadcasts so I could teach these things to my Little League teams.  I learned a good deal about baseball from the Game of the Week.  Thank you, Joe and God Bless You.
