Liviu Feldman, 89, passed away on February 28, 2026. Beloved husband of Ann Feldman; devoted father to Suzanne Feldman Forbes; loving step-father of Heather McVicar (Michael) Ruoss and Sam (Jana) McVicar; adored grandfather of Hayley and Morgan Ruoss.
As a child during World War II, Liviu experienced the fear and uncertainty of running with his family to bomb shelters, and he carried forward the lessons of endurance shaped by the difficulties his family faced during and after the war. Those early years formed a steady strength that would guide him through the many challenges that followed.
In his third year at the university in Romania, Liviu requested permission to leave the country. He was studying to become an aeronautical engineer, but his request came at a cost: he was expelled and assigned a menial job. Still, Liviu remained brave and determined. A few years later, he was able to leave Romania with his wife and father-in-law, beginning a new chapter built on sacrifice, hope, and hard work.
Liviu and his family settled in St. Louis. He arrived speaking no English and without a degree to rely on, needing to learn a trade and build a life from the ground up. A watchmaker offered him the chance to stand behind him and learn watchmaking—an opportunity Liviu met with humility and relentless effort. He listened to Harry Caray and Jack Buck on the radio to learn baseball and to learn English, absorbing the language and the rhythms of his new home one broadcast at a time.
In the years that followed, Liviu became a Certified Rolex Technician and worked independently in several jewelry stores, earning respect through skill, precision, and integrity. His work reflected the same steady persistence that defined his life: careful, dependable, and quietly excellent.
Liviu will be remembered as the loving, humorous, hard-working individual he was. He was an incredible singer and juggler and took every opportunity he could to make the people around him smile. He had many passions and talents in his life, and continually surprised and impressed the people around him.
Liviu will be deeply missed by those who knew him best, and by the world around him. He had a charm that never went unnoticed by anyone, no matter how small the interaction was. His life was an incredible show of resilience, bravery, empathy and love.
