

Giarraffa, Louis S., in his 82nd year passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Beloved husband for 47 years of the late Patricia A. Giarraffa; dear father and father-in-law of Angela (Nicolas) Spatola, Denise (Peter) Roldan of Pacifica, CA., Anthony (Stacey) Giarraffa of Buffalo Grove, IL., and the late Nicholas Giarraffa; loving Papa of Noel and Oscar Spatola, Chiara and Arman Roldan, Hailey and Nora Giarraffa; dear brother and brother-in-law of Frances (Stephen) Hanlon, Frank (Jean) Giarraffa, Donald (Anne) Giarraffa, and the late Joseph Giarraffa; dear uncle, great-uncle and cousin.
Louis was born Nunzio Salvatore on October 4, 1943, the elder of his twin brother, Joe, and changed his name at the age of 19. He grew up in a loving multi-family duplex on Delmar Boulevard surrounded by Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Louis attended St. Joseph’s Parish School in Clayton, St. Louis University High School (Class of 1962), and received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Louis University where he met the love of his life, Pat.
He registered with the Armed Forces on October 10, 1966, and served in the Vietnam War, earning both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Louis was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, taking his First Degree on September 11, 1966. He served as both Grand Knight and Financial Secretary over the years; and was a member of the Fourth Degree. Louis was also an active member of the Immacolata Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 35+ years.
Lou enjoyed bowling, playing in leagues multiple nights a week with his brothers. He was an avid puzzler; St. Louis Cardinals baseball enthusiast; followed the Stock Market; and could always tell you the cheapest place to find gasoline. When he was in the presence of his Greco cousins, he could even be found attempting to carry a tune.
Services: Funeral Mass Monday, December 29, 10am at the Church of the Immacolata, 8900 Clayton Road. Memorial visitation at 9am until the time of service. Committal Service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery 2:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immacolata Knights of Columbus or Normandy Meals on Wheels P.O.
