Martha Frances Chlanda

Martha Frances (Cochran) Chlanda, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 94 years of age. She was born in Marion, IL on September 11, 1917, the daughter of Clyde and Pauline Cochran.

A graduate of Marion Township High School and Brown’s Business College, Marion, Martha worked in business for 27 years. Her last position before retirement was that of Executive Secretary to the Administrator of Lutheran Medical Center, St. Louis.

On November 18, 1944, Martha married Albert Chlanda. He preceeded her in death in 2009. They were married 64 years.

Dear mother of Paula (Irvin) Kettler and Deborah (Russell) Hamm; loving grandmother of Amanda Kettler and Sharon (Ryan) Van Poperin. Beloved aunt, sister, and sister-in-law.

Mrs. Chlanda was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lemay. Martha gave her time and talents as a volunteer there, serving as church clerk for 25 years and as president of the Women’s Missionary Union.

Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M., Friday, December 30, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., where the family will receive friends, Thursday from 4 – 9 P.M. Interment in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks.
