Norbert A. Siegfried, Monday, November 8, 2021. Beloved husband of Jan Siegfried for 6 years and Jean Siegfried (deceased) for 36 years. Beloved father Stan, Steve (Elizabeth), and Gary (Bridget) Siegfried and the late Thomas Mark Siegfried. Adoring grandfather to Brett (Hannah) Siegfried, Katherine (David) Ames, Courtney, Nicole (Christopher) Farlow, James, and Laura Siegfried. Great-grandfather of eight. Dear son of Maximilian (deceased) and Geneva (deceased) and brother to Tony (Linda) Siegfried, Lillian Goodman, and Sister Regina Siegfried. Beloved fishing partner, colleague and friend to many.
Norbert was born in Randolph County, Illinois and raised in Prairie du Rocher. Raised by his father who operated a small business, Norb came by his notorious work ethic and drive from a young age, passing it along to his children, his grandchildren, and all of those he encountered that would listen. He briefly spent time in the seminary and the Navy at the end of WWII. After returning to Prairie du Rocher, he married Jean (nee Yallaly) and together they raised their four boys.
Professionally, he left the life of a farmer with Jean and four young boys in tow and moved to St. Louis. As he tells it, he began knocking on doors selling insurance the first day in town. He went on to run the Midwest region for Home Life Insurance Company, often outperforming the next two regions combined. Norb also helped spearhead the early growth and expansion of Physicians Planning Service Corp, a financial planning firm ahead of its time. Norb continued his success all his life selling high-end, complex insurance products into his 90’s. He was looked to by others as an example of elite salesmanship and a sharp business mind.
A longtime supporter of both the Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was instrumental in moving the hospital from the city to its current location in South County and prosperous years thereafter serving as Chairman of the Board (now Mercy South.) To assist children of St. Anthony’s loyal employees, he helped found the Norbert Siegfried Scholarship for Sons & Daughters of St. Anthony’s to provide scholarship funds to those showing academic success and financial need. He was also a supporter of the Today and Tomorrow Education Foundation as another means to ensuring those in need received an education and other tools needed to live a successful life.
Norb’s greatest joy was watching his grandchildren grow. He made sure to regularly check in to ensure everyone had what they needed to work hard and prosper. Norb was a friend to all and had many close friendships over the years. He loved traveling, especially travel that included trips to the Bahamas and France with his closest friends. Norb loved the outdoors, duck hunting, raising cattle and time spent on a fishing boat with friends. He will be missed dearly.

“The difference between being successful and not so successful is what you achieve every day of your life. Make a point of getting up every morning and figuring out your short-term goals for that day – deciding what you can do that day to meet your lifetime goals."
