Richard Michael Brown

Richard M. Brown, age 87, of St. Louis was fortified with Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on July 23, 2016. He is the dear husband of Carole Brown, nee Shelton. Richard was born in St. Louis, Mo., on April 4, 1929, a son of Thomas and Catherine “Kitty” Brown, nee Prince. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and served in the U.S. Army. Returning to St. Louis he worked for Laclede Gas Company and retired after 35 years of service. Rich was a member of Saints Mary & Joseph Church and later St. Stephen Protomatyr. He and his beloved wife Carole were married June 11, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Rich was a member of the American Legion and the Forty and Eight. He enjoyed golfing, Irish Ballads, poker and soccer.

He also leaves to mourn his passing children Nancy (Keven) Baker, Joyce (James) Triska, Robin Brown and the late Kathleen Vinson; grandfather of Christy (Jeff) Summers, Richard (Sarah) Vinson, Carrie Baker, Zachary Baker, Lisa (Corey) Beczkala, Audrey (Brandon) Zweifel, Grace Triska; great-grandfather of Katlyn Vinson, Johanna Vinson, Natalie Frey, Liam Zweifel and Aedan Zweifel. Brother of Catherine ( the late Peter). Messmer, and Mary Alice (Ron) Bess, He was preceded in death by siblings Thomas (Rosa) Brown, Harry (Eva) Semar, John (Ann) Brown, Bernie (Patricia) Brown and Margie Hood.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am, Wednesday, July 27, at Saints Mary and Joseph Chapel, 6304 Minnesota Ave. St. Louis, Mo. 63111. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 pm, Tues. July 26, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63125.
