

Richard “Rick” Mariam, beloved husband of 50 years to Lois Mariam, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and son of the late Phillip and Francine Mariam, and cherished son-in-law of the late Arthur and Sylvia Jaffe, passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 72, just days before his birthday on June 2, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Mariam; his children, Brad Mariam (Amanda), Kimberly Shainsky (Pavel), Craig Mariam, and Penny Mariam; and his cherished grandchildren, Jordyn and Collin Mariam, Ava and Blake Mariam, and Sulia, Finley, and Avery Shainsky.
Rick is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Present (Larry) and Lori Leidner (Gary); his sister-in-law, Lainey Berkus (Michael); along with many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Rick was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, brother-in-law, and beloved uncle. He touched countless lives with his warmth, generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
He especially cherished his role as “Papa,” finding immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Throughout his distinguished career, Rick dedicated more than 30 years as Director of Food Service for the Pattonville School District in St. Louis, Missouri, and also served the San Dieguito Union High School District and the Coronado Unified School District in California.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 1 PM at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road in Chesterfield. Please see below for Shiva details.
