Robert Dennis Levine

Robert Dennis Levine, 1940-2018 Robert Dennis Levine, of St. Louis, Missouri, died with grace and beauty at home, surrounded by his family. A civil engineer by trade, he was a problem-solver who approached life with an irreverent temperament, a dry sense of humor, and a fighting spirit, even in the face of health challenges. Lauded in his profession, he also had many other interests; he was an avid reader, loved watching baseball games with his family, and always took great pleasure in nature, spending much time outdoors raking leaves and tending to his yard. His family depended on him to always put things in perspective and he loved them back with a quiet fierceness, always working behind the scenes to make sure they were taken care of. Robert will be remembered for his dedicated and forward-thinking career in healthcare design and construction. He served as Senior Vice President of Turner Construction Company’s Healthcare Group for 25 years and later formed his own consulting firm. He is the author of Capital Projects and Healthcare Reform. Born in Paterson, NJ, Robert met his wife of 57 years, Myra (Stetin), when they were both students at East Side High School. They shared not only a long love story but a true friendship, enjoying being at home together and also vacationing in Florida, where they owned a house for many years. Survived by Myra, Robert is the dear father and father-in-law of Lisa, Michael (Licia Terranova) and Scott (Margaretta Mendenhall) Levine and Paula McMaster; dear grandfather of Isabel, Gabrielle, Charles, and Eliana Levine; dear son of the late Morris and the late Sylvia Levine; dear brother and brother-in-law of Arthur (Marilyn) and the late Richard (Joanne) Levine; dear brother-in-law of Sondra (Ira) Gash; and also his beloved basset hounds, the late Sadie and Sophie. Funeral service Friday, November 9, 12:00 pm at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman at Kingshighway. No visitation prior to service. Interment New Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Central Reform Congregation, Missouri Humane Society, or plant a tree in honor of Robert’s love of nature.
