Shirley Joyce Prywitch, 91, wife of the late Marvin Alan Prywitch, the love of her life for 68 years, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. She was born June 11, 1934 in St. Louis and raised by her loving parents, the late Betty Finkelstein Gaylor and the late Benjamin Gaylor.
Family was everything to Shirley. She always put the needs and feelings of others above her own. Shirley enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the many card and Mahjong groups throughout the years. She and her beloved Marvin loved to “cut a rug” at swing dance events they frequently attended. Shirley was especially close to her sisters Lily and Ruthie, who being several years older, were very protective of her growing up.
Beloved wife of the late Marvin Alan Prywitch; dear mother and mother-in-law of Rick Prywitch (Audrey) and Brett Prywitch (Lynne); loving grandmother of Randy Prywitch (Annie), Lauren Boresow (Brett), Jamie Gallant (Richie), Danny Prywitch (fiancée Michelle Leshchinsky) and Scott Prywitch (Sophie Berne); loving great-grandmother of Bennett and Rory Gallant, Capri Boresow, Jack and Sutton Prywitch; dear sister of the late Lillian Hammerman (late Elmer) and the late Ruth Gaylor; dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Graveside Service Thursday, March 26 at 10 AM at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road. Memorial contributions preferred to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or a charity of your choice.
