

William “Bill” Francis McKenna passed away on February 20, 2025 in St. Louis, MO. He was born on September 24, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University. He earned his Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from University of North Texas and finally his PhD in S.T.E.M. Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014.
Bill was a lover of all kinds of music, and he started playing the guitar in his early teens. He became very proficient on the guitar and serenaded many friends and family members throughout the years. He played many different types of music on the guitar, but excelled in complicated classical pieces. He was also a great writer and philosopher. Many late-night hours were spent waxing philosophical with anyone who would join in. Bill was also an avid volunteer for the ManKind Project for 16 years in Austin, TX and lastly in St. Louis, MO.
He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle and Godfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Morgan and Barbara Agnes (Williamson) McKenna, his brother John “Jack” Morgan McKenna, Jr. and his sister Susan McKenna. He is survived by 3 sisters, Patricia Sikes (husband Kent), Maureen Book (husband Kevin), Tracey McKenna (husband Charles “Butch” Walters); 4 nephews, Matthew Sikes (wife Allison), Scott Sikes (wife Beverly), Connor & Michael Book; and 3 grand nephews, Preston, Nolan and Andrew and 1 grand niece, Eliza.
SERVICES: Memorial service 11am Sunday, March 23, 2025 Trailhead Park Shelter 11021 Boulder Lane, Austin, TX 78726. A light lunch will also be served. Please consider a donation in Bill’s memory to Harris House Foundation in St. Louis, MO (https://harrishousestl.org)
