Deidra "DeeDee" Prados Henderson

ST. MARTINVILLE – Funeral services will be conducted for Deidra Prados “DeeDee” Henderson, age 48, at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Jessie Charpentier will officiate. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville on Monday beginning at 1:00 pm and will continue throughout the evening until services on Tuesday.

A native of Loreauville and resident of Broussard, Deidra passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at her residence, with her family at her side.

Deidra, known by family and friends as “DeeDee”, worked with her brother at the Seafood Station for 10 years, and prior to that with Martin Mills for over 10 years, before her retirement. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved cooking for her family, fishing and tending to her garden. DeeDee was a kind and generous person who never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Billy C. Henderson of Broussard; daughters, Maize Lorraine Henderson of Broussard, and Tameca Lynn Prados and Harry “Pippy” Smith of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Damon Allen Smith and Kheira Leigh Smith; step-sons, Travis Joseph Henderson and James “Hammer” Henderson both of South Carolina; sister, Diane Prados Theriot and Kenneth of Loreauville; and brothers, Wilbert Prados and Judy of New Iberia, Gilman Prados and Tessie of St. Martinville; Sidney “Popeye” Prados of Alexandria, Thomas “Sunshine” Prados and Betty of St. Martinville, Robert “Bobby” Prados and Poopae of Loreauville, Whitney “Opie” Prados and Jenny of New Iberia, and Kevin Prados and Tammy of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Honore “Teno” Prados, Jr. and Lorraine Broussard Prados; sister, Juliette Melancon; and nephews, John Melancon, Jr. and Kevin “Sonny” Prados, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Wilbert, Gilman, Sunshine, Bobby, Opie and Kevin Prados. Honorary pallbearer will be Harry “Pippy” Smith.
