Harvey Patrick Gauthier, age 49, of Saint Martinville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born and raised in St. Martinville, Harvey was a man with a heart as big as the world he loved exploring. Though his time here was far too short, he filled every day with kindness, generosity, and laughter, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever by those who loved him.
Harvey was one of a kind, a natural problem-solver who could fix anything with nothing, and who always seemed to know how to make things work, no matter how impossible they seemed. His mind was overflowing with the most random, fascinating bits of knowledge, and he could make even the dullest topic sound interesting.
No words can truly capture who Harvey was — he was unique in every way, he lived life entirely his own way, with heart, humor, and grace — and that, more than anything, is what made him unforgettable.
Whether through food, kindness, or laughter, he always wanted to make people happy. Harvey also had a mischievous and creative sense of humor. He loved practical jokes and showing up in imaginative costumes that made everyone laugh — or stare in pure bewilderment.
He loved being outside more than anything else. The open air was where he felt most at peace, whether riding his three-wheeler or his dirt bike, tinkering with engines, or simply exploring. Many of his happiest moments were spent alongside his best friends, Courtney and Bub, creating memories that will live on through every story told.
Harvey carried an unshakable love for his daughter, Tana, who truly is her father’s daughter in every way. His pride in her was boundless — the same creativity, curiosity, and ability to see beauty in the unusual and out-of-the-ordinary live on through her. Like her father, she brings artistic life and meaning to things others might overlook, carrying forward a piece of his spirit in everything she creates.
Above all, Harvey’s heart belonged to his wife, Crystal, whom he adored beyond measure. She was his partner in every sense — his steady place, his confidant, his comfort.
A true gentleman, Harvey often surprised her with handpicked flowers and thoughtful gestures that reflected his gentle soul. The bond they shared was one built on laughter, loyalty, and unwavering love — a connection that will never be broken, even by time or distance.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Serrette Gauthier and his beloved daughter, Tana Marie Gauthier.
He is also survived by his parents Joyce Buck and Lowell Gauthier, his mother-in-law Paula Serrette; his siblings Alisha Fuselier, Terrance Gauthier (Dena), Ginger Gauthier, and Morgan Gauthier (Tiffany); his brothers-in-law Kenneth Serrette and Calvin Serrette (Sarah); and his best friend Courtney Perrodin.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Artie and Reginald “Tick” Buck, his paternal grandparents Hazel and Llewellyn “Lou” Gauthier, and his father-in-law Billy Serrette.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, along with his godson, all of whom will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
We will gather for a memorial service honoring Harvey at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church,111 Oak Dr., St. Martinville, Louisiana on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to bring photographs and share personal stories and memories that celebrate his life.
Though he is no longer here to walk beside us, the love he gave and the kindness he showed will live on in every person he touched.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day — unseen, unheard, but always near.”
