Linda Verret Shipp

St. Martinville – Funeral services will be celebrated for Linda Verret Shipp, age 62, at 2:00 pm Monday, August 4, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday at Evangeline Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 10:00 am until time of services.

Linda was born January 12, 1952 in New Iberia to the late Emile Verret and Annabelle Blanchard Verret. She passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Iberia Medical Center, with her family at her side.

Linda was a 1970 Graduate of New Iberia Senior High. She was a former sales representative in the oilfield and worked in other careers, but was most proud of her latest position as an advocate raising awareness against Domestic Abuse. Hobbies that she enjoyed included playing Bingo, crocheting, wood burning, and traveling throughout the United States with her husband. But it was the time spent with her family that brought her the most joy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband, Craig Shipp of St. Martinville; her children, Realyn Lancon of New Iberia, Chantelle Harris of New Iberia, Sheree Tisdale and husband Christopher of St. Martinville, Adam Lancon and wife Tristen of New Iberia; her two cats that she loved, Smoke and Isabella; 15 grandchildren, 1 great grand on the way; her sister, Beatrice Derise and husband Jimmy; nephew Ronnie Louvere and fiancée Nicole; niece Jamie Menard and Nick; sister-in-law, Donna Holdener and husband Glenn; father and mother in law, Walter J. Shipp and Rae Shipp; and many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emile and Annabelle Verret.
