Adelaide Catherine Nolan Salerno (“Addie”), aged 92, passed away on November 22, 2021 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Addie was born on June 3, 1929 in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of John and Gertrude Nolan, and was raised in New Rochelle, NY along with her brother Jack. After a long courtship she married John Salerno in 1955 and in 1968 they made the decision to move their family to Treasure Island, Florida after having purchased the Suncoast Motel which they owned and operated until they retired in 1993.
Addie was the true matriarch of the Salerno family, holding fast to her beliefs, defending those she loved, and always seeking to provide the best life possible for her family. She brought balance and stability to the family via the manner in which she conducted her life that served as a constant example of the benefits of adhering to common sense values and treating other individuals with proper respect. Upon “retiring” from the rigors of the motel business, Addie turned her attention to serving for many years on the board of the HarbourSide Homeowners Master Association as well as the Beachwalker Building Association. She took great pride in representing her fellow homeowners, always working on their behalf to protect everyone’s interests for the betterment of the HarbourSide community.
She took great joy and pride in observing the development of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments as well as relishing the title of “GG” once she became a great grandmother.
Addie is survived by her son Bob (Nikki), daughter Carol Walker, grandchildren Michael Salerno, Kristin McKee (Shawn), Nicholas Salerno, and Lexi Walker, as well as her great grandchildren Ava Salerno and Logan McKee. She was preceded in death by her husband John, the love of her life for 46 years as well as her beloved pets Kiki and Holly. Beach Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements whereby she will be interred at Bay Pines Veterans Cemetery along with her husband John in a small private family ceremony. The family has requested that those desiring to make a remembrance contribution in her name do so in the form of a donation to their local chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA).
