Born February 27, 1962 in Ravenna, OH, Gary was a 1980 graduate of Ravenna High School, after which he proudly served in the U.S. Marines. Following his service to our country, he began his career at the Ravenna Arsenal, followed by Land O’Lakes in Kent, OH, then to Cumberland Creamery in Nashville, TN. Gary’s career path eventually led him to Tiller Foods in Florida where he worked for more than 25 years, ultimately serving as the company’s Director of Operations. Gary was ever mindful of those he led, and his hard work and dedication set the bar for all those who worked alongside him.
Always an athlete, he especially enjoyed playing sand volleyball and spending time with other players wherever he lived. It was on the volleyball court that he met his best friend, Sam Cibrone, and many other players who became family to him. Gary’s friends affectionately referred to him as the “Mayor of the Beach” in Clearwater, and nicknamed him “Clooney” because he knew everyone and greeted them by name. Gary’s home was the beach, and none who knew him will be surprised to find him playing volleyball when they see him again in heaven.
Gary lived life to the fullest and believed in kindness, generosity, and treating people with respect. One of his final acts of kindness and generosity was being an organ donor; Gary gave the gift of life, so that others can continue to live life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Sr. and Shirley Morris, along with his infant sister, Terri. Survivors include his sons, Kevin and Anthony (Rachel) Morris; granddaughters, Ava and Emily; siblings Larry Jr. (Tara) Morris, Kathleen (Dan) D’Sidocky, and Sherri Smith; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A beloved father, brother, grandfather, friend, and co-worker, he left a lasting mark on every life he touched. Gary will be deeply missed, and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held April 18th at Chris' Beachside Bar in St. Pete Beach, FL.
In lieu of flowers, since Gary was involved in daily acts of kindness to those in need, please see a need and honor his generous spirit.
