
He was born October 29, 1922, in Long Island City, New York, the first son of Paolo and Stella Ippolito Zazzero.
Vito served his country in the US Navy for 3 ½ years during World War 2. He returned home to Astoria, New York where he met his future wife, Edna Bilek. Edna and Vito were married for 70 years.
Vito was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus, having served since 1958 through his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Maryanne and Philomena.
He is survived by three sons, Michael (Wendy) of Clifton Virginia; Paul (Dympna) of Brewster, New York and Matthew of St Petersburg Florida and 7 grandchildren; Nicole, Michelle, Samantha, Christopher, Isabella, Emma and Mia.
A wake celebrating Vito’s long life will be held on February 12th, 2026, at 6PM at Beach Memorial Chapel in St Petersburg, Florida. We invite all who knew and loved Vito to join us in honoring his memory.
A mass will be held on Friday February 13th, 2026, at St Paul’s Catholic Church in St Petersburg, Florida at 9:30 AM. Pall bearers will be his sons; Michael, Paul and Matthew, his nephews Jeffrey, Wallace and William Grabarz and his grandson Christopher Zazzero.
Vito will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Sumter County, Florida on Monday February 16th, 2026, at 10:30 AM receiving full military honors.
