Bill was a native of Andover, MA. He and his wife, Camille, raised their children in Salem, NH. Bill held many positions in his working years, most prominently he was Director of International Technical Support for Rolls Systems in Burlington, MA. His work brought him to 47 of the 50 states as well as across Europe, Asia, South and Central America, and Australia. Bill’s love of travel continued outside of work, taking vacations with his family to Europe and the Caribbean.
Bill loved the outdoors and never missed an opportunity to be on the water. He was a certified SCUBA diver who passed his love for adventure down to his children with the legacy continuing in his grandchildren. Whether kayaking, sailing, or just sitting on the balcony admiring the intercoastal, Bill loved being near the water.
During retirement, Bill traded salting the New England sidewalks for the salt of the ocean. He and Camille split time between Salisbury, MA and St. Petersburg, FL. He became an avid pickleball player affectionately nicknamed Pickleball Bill, known for his vicious serve. His mornings and afternoons were spent walking the community, easily recognized by his bright fluorescent shirts. He never missed his walks but would gladly put them on hold to shuttle his granddaughters to and from school and practices.
Bill is survived by his wife, Camille (Pappalardo) Hemsworth, his two children Robert (Andrea) Hemsworth and Jennifer (Brandon) Johnson, sister Laurie (Jay) Knapp, brother Ken (Susan) Hemsworth, brother-in-law Joseph Pappalardo, nephews James (Katherine) Knapp and Andrew (McKenzie) Knapp, and grandchildren Samuel Hemsworth, Cathryn Quinn Hemsworth, Angelina Johnson, and Caroline Johnson.
