Cameron Lewis Smith slipped peacefully into the healing arms of Jesus on July 1, 2022. He was born in Kennett, MO on December 6, 1959. The son of an Air Force pilot, Cameron lived in many places throughout the US, as well as in Japan and Panama.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Accounting, Cameron worked in the banking industry for many years until he was hand-picked to build a national real estate portfolio of properties. This sparked an intense interest in commercial and corporate real estate, which opened the door to a whole new career for Cameron. He enjoyed the negotiating and traveling for site visits, but more than that he treasured the friendships that grew from working with people all over the US and Canada.
An avid fisherman since his childhood, Cameron spent many happy times in Rockport, where in recent years he took up fly fishing and kayaking. Rockport was also a favorite place to relax with family and good friends.
Cameron is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Bryant; his daughter, Bailey; his devoted sisters; and a host of wonderful family, and friends who felt like family.
Cameron had a fun, upbeat personality, and brought joy and laughter to those fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed.
His family will honor Cameron’s memory privately. Cameron was an avid supporter of Samaritan’s Purse, so he would be proud and grateful for donations to be made in his name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with his family at
