Darryl Dwight Smith, Sr.

Darryl Dwight Smith of Missouri City, Texas passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, November 8, 2023. He was born October 4, 1969 to Shillary Lee Smith and Flora Jean Roberts in Jacksonville, Texas.

Darryl attended several schools in Houston and Rusk, Texas before graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in 1989. He was in the Army for eight years. During this time, he attended the University of Houston where he studied Political Science with plans to be a Lawyer. He also attended Texas Southern University where he came close to completing a degree in Social Work. Darryl loved working on computers and often fixed them for friends and family. He had recently started working on a degree in computers from the University of the People. He was a bus operator for Metro where he had worked since 2001. God was important in Darryl’s life. He often listened to Dr. Charles Stanly and liked to discuss his sermons.

He met his wife in 1991 at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. They enjoyed six months together until Darryl went to work in Amarillo. They would lose contact until 2006 when they ran into each other in the medical center. They married in 2008 and later settled in Missouri City where they raised two boys.

Darryl is preceded in death by his father Shillary Lee Smith, his brother Stanley Smith, his mother Flora Jean Roberts, his grandmothers Evangeline King and Clara Johnson, and his son Marcus Smith. He is survived by his sister Pamela Wooten, his sons Darryl Smith Jr. and Darius Smith, his wife Christiana Smith, his nephews Damion Palacious and Prince Omni and many aunts and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, immediately followed by a funeral at 12:00 p.m.

The interment will follow, via funeral procession to Paradise South Cemetery in Pearland.
