Dawn is preceded in death by her father, mother, step-mother Myrtle Davis, brother R.A. Davis, stepson Jerry Kamin, and grandson Justin Salis.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 32 years, Max Kamin, who showed her the true meaning of absolute love between a husband and wife, sister Joan Clair and husband Forrest, brother Glenn Davis and Jimmy, her children Kelly Cook Moore and Steve, Tracy Cook Miller and Freddie, her step-children Joyce Cook Jacob and Hani, Roy Cook Jr. and Carole, Cindy Van Keppel and Steffen, Dana Kamin, and daughter-in-law Helen Kamin. There are many others who called her Mom or that she was a surrogate Mom to that Dawn loved all the same. To her grandchildren Nick Miller, Colby Miller, Heather Willis, Will Miller, Wade Salis, Daniel Jacob, Jessica Becker, Sara Lemos, Katie Bridges, Steven Young, Brent Kamin, Erin Miller, Carrie Alley, Josh Kamin, Justin Van Keppel, Emily Romero, and Jenny Miller, Dawn was the bestest “Nana” in the whole world. Her great-grandchildren Emma, Owen, Jace, Kade, Dub, Henley, James, Ava, Aubrey, Bridget, Samantha, Rachel, Hallie, Cole, Caden, Skylar, Lawson, Kaydence, and Layton all gave her so much joy. Her many nieces and nephews describe her with words such as angel, savior, beautiful, golden heart, kind, sweetest soul, unique, loving, and many more. Dawn’s departure from this earth will leave a void in all our hearts. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Dawn was raised in deep East Texas and graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1960 and participated in and coordinated many alumni and reunion events up to current days. She was an avid bowler, starting in 1968 at the old Palace Bowling Lanes in Bellaire, TX. She and her daughters, Kelly and Tracy, traveled with her each year to state and national tournaments with Dawn’s many friends. She loved working in her yard, changing her landscape with the seasons. Dawn and Max enjoyed traveling the world. The best times were with Max, as they would sit together in the mornings drinking coffee talking about life, family, and current events.
