Diane Marie Mangan passed away on December 24, 2024, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with cancer. Fittingly, she departed on Christmas Eve, one of her favorite holidays, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 26, 1959, to Glenn Leo Watts and Jule Marlene Watts, in Joliet, Illinois.
Diane dedicated over 20 years of her career to serving as a senior family law paralegal before she decided to retire in 2008. Although she stepped away from her professional life at a relatively young age, Diane continued to stay busy, devoting her time and energy to being her husband, Roger’s, task master. She also supported her daughters, Jule and Katerina, as they pursued their interests in theater, dance, and gymnastics. She later embraced the role of being a grandma, or as Cole would affectionately refer to her - “Gram Gram”.
Diane was known for her unwavering support and dedication to her family. Family was the cornerstone of her life. She was always there for those who needed her most.
She loved the holiday season, embracing everything from Halloween to Christmas. Whether it was trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, hosting family meals, or joyfully decorating her home for Christmas—often playfully guiding her husband to handle the heavy lifting (and sometimes falling)—she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Traveling with her husband and family brought Diane immense joy. She had a passion for cruising and explored every continent, gathering unique souvenirs that are proudly displayed throughout her home. Over the years, she visited 102 countries, many of which she returned to more than once.
Diane is survived by her husband of 25 years (surprising given they were married on Friday the 13th of August 1999), Roger; her children, Robert (Kristen), Jule, and Katerina; her stepchildren, Michelle, Ronald, and Richard (Julie), and her grandchildren, Hannah, Coleman, and Trinity. She was also a cherished sister to Patrick (Sally), Mike, David, and Joe (Joanne), leaving behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Marlene Jule Watts.
Diane's humor, warmth, and support will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and joy.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a blood donation at your local blood bank in Diane's memory.
