ERNA LISELOTTE MAHLER. After many years of battling horrendous pain from severe arthritis and other illnesses God has taken her “home.” She will be welcomed by many relatives and friends that have passed before her. She was born in Germany on May 8, 1919, and had a full and adventurous life. She is survived by her children, daughter, Ingeborg Garney and husband A.J. of Houston; son, Klaus-Dieter Mahler and wife Sheron of New Orleans; grandchildren, Stephanie Frazer and husband James of Fallbrook, CA, Mark Miller and wife Gina of Salt Lake City, UT, Heidi Mahler of New Orleans, and Dieter Mahler and wife Deena of Covington, LA; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Pemperton of Fort Worth and Josefine Ott of Munich, Germany; and many nieces and nephews. Her great sense of humor, her zest for life and love of family will always be remembered. Mutti, Omi and Mimi, we will always love you and will forever miss you! Your incredible strength leading our family thru a war and terrible tragedies is something we will never forget and we are so grateful. A very special and heartfelt thanks to Odyssey Hospice and their wonderful staff, especially “our Angels,” Argentina, Jeremy, Lina (You are the best), Dr. Tavel, sweet Suzanna and night nurse Charles. Debbie, you were there at the end and we thank you for your compassion and expertise. To our two compassionate caretakers, Mayra and Judy, we can’t thank you enough. In lieu of flowers for those who desire, donations may be made to an animal shelter or rescue of your choosing. There will be a Celebration of her Life held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
