Francisco "Frank" Martinez, Jr., affectionately known as "Juni," passed away peacefully on the evening of January 27, 2025, with his devoted wife and love of his life, Marti, by his side. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on March 12, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to Francisco and Concepción Cortés Martinez, Frank’s life was a testament to perseverance, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. He was a man of many talents and passions, earning a degree in geology before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy. Frank possessed a deep curiosity about the world, which shone through in both his professional pursuits and the many conversations he shared with those lucky enough to know him.
Beyond his accomplishments, Frank’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all he met. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marti Pattinson, who stood steadfastly by his side through all of life’s seasons. He is also survived by his cherished brother, Edwin Martinez (Karen), and his dear sister, Jeanette Martinez. His memory will forever be held close by his children, Sonein Noack (Mike) and Frank E. Martinez, as well as his grandchildren, Aaron, Gavin, and Machala Noack Brown (Dalton). His treasured great-grandchildren—Sloane, Blythe, and Berkeley Brown—will grow up hearing stories of their incredible great-grandfather.
Frank’s circle of love extended far beyond his immediate family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his lifelong friends—Miguel, Nancy, Jorge, Richard, and cousin Nereida—his partners in adventure and mischief from their days in Brooklyn. The memories they created together will continue to be celebrated and cherished.
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved parents, Francisco and Concepción, as well as his son, Jacob Alexander, whose loss he carried in his heart.
A Celebration of Frank’s Life will take place on Friday, April 4th, at 4:00 p.m. at Faith Sugar Land, 800 Brooks St., Sugar Land, TX. Honoring his wishes, Frank’s final resting place will be the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Mexico, off the shores of Matagorda, TX—a perfect tribute to a man whose spirit was as limitless as the sea.
Frank’s warmth, humor, and boundless generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He had a rare gift—lighting up a room with his laughter, offering wisdom in a quiet word, and embracing life with an open heart. His spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
For the past two years, Frank received constant, compassionate care—not only from Marti but also from a dedicated team of caregivers, including Arlin, Marta, Nketchi, Gilba, Gia, Tony, Terrell, and Terrence. Their unwavering kindness and commitment made a profound difference—truly embodying the spirit of a village.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society (2700 SW Freeway, Suite 296, Houston, TX 77098) at haps.org/support or to Faith Sugar Land in support of Marti’s upcoming summer mission trip to Honduras—an endeavor Frank passionately championed—at faithsugarland.org.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the love, laughter, and countless cherished memories Frank left behind. He was a light in our lives, and while his presence will be deeply missed, his love will remain with us always.
Rest in peace, dear Frank. Your journey continues beyond the horizon.
