Jane Tracey Chalmers Logeman passed away peacefully, at the age of 92, on Friday, July 26, 2013 in her home at The Hampton Tanglewood in Houston, Texas. Born on November 11, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Virgil and Hilda Chalmers, and sister to Lorraine. She was educated in Chicago, Kansas City, Missouri, and Fort Worth, Texas before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jane beautifully mastered a balance between home and work, long before most women had careers outside the home. She graduated with a degree in English from Texas Christian University in 1942, attended business school in Cincinnati, Ohio, was employed there by the F.B.I., stayed home to raise her daughter, and then eagerly rejoined the workforce in 1967. After retiring from Cincinnati Milacron in 1985, she continued to contribute her talents and skills to worthy causes, serving in her church office and later at Mars Hill Ministries. Although Jane spent her final years in Texas to be close to her daughter and grandchildren, Cincinnati always had a special place in her heart. Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; nothing delighted her more than her family. She was preceded in death by, and is now reunited with, her husband of 59 years, Robert W. Logeman; her family finds great peace in knowing that she is now “home” with her “Bob.” She is survived by their daughter Jane Balena and her husband John; grandchildren, Katie LLagostera and her husband Domingo, and Rob Balena and his wife Sarah; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jeremiah Balena, and Leo LLagostera. A memorial celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Southwest Chapel of Earthman Funeral Homes, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford, Texas 77477. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to “Homes for Our Troops” (www.hfotusa.org) in honor of her beloved Bob, a WWII veteran.
