Mary Louise Smothers Hall passed in her sleep in the early morning hours of Friday, March 15, 2024, after a long battle dementia. Born on December 2, 1933 to Herbert Smothers and Josephine Scheffler Smothers, she was their only child. Growing up in Corpus Christi, Texas, Louise attended W.B. Ray High School and Del Mar College, this is where she also met and later married Frank Hall in 1952. After they moved to Houston in 1975, she earned her law degree from University of Houston Law Center.
Louise worked at Mobile Oil Corporation for over 25 years, starting as a secretary and retiring from Exxon/Mobile as a member of their legal department. She was also a mediator and a registered parliamentarian. Having a great interest in the Smothers family history, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution DRT, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Austin’s Old 300. Louise gave countless hours to these organizations. She loved animals, always had dogs and cats and referred to them as her “furry kids”.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Frank Hall and their first son Steve. She is survived by their son Joel, his wife Nancy and their two sons Reid and David Hall. She is also survived by Steve’s widow Karin Dunn and several cousins across Texas. A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed. Godspeed Louise, we love you!
A interment service will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
